Our Lag Be’omer barbeque and picnic at Marine park was great. The food, games, Tzivos Hashem rally and singing around the bonfire enveloped us with a warm community feeling. Shavuos this year made Chabad House look like a pizza and ice-cream parlor. After the usual all night learning and the 6:00 Hashkomo minyan, some of us had a continental breakfast of pizza (that was supposed to be for later) and blintzes. Of course after the ‘official’ minyan heard the ten commandments the kids who behaved got a double scoop ice-cream cone. At our special children’s reading everyone enjoyed pizza and ice-cream with the reading of the ten commandments. Thanks to Rabbi S. Heidingsfeld who arranged and conducted a Shavuos service at Upward Bound Senior Home. The Women’s Kiddush with Bronya Shaffier was so elegantly prepared. The women were treated like Queens. Bronya really had some inspiring stories and her application of Judaism to everyday life, made it a soul stirring speech. Of course the Sunday brunch was equally inspiring and well planned. Chabad Hebrew School’s, commencement ceremony found parents and students baking challah and designing delicious mints. The students worked hard an entire year. Mazel Tov on all your accomplishments!
