About the Club:
What do Tea bags, flames,
bee’s wax, and cookie cutters have in common? Well ask anyone of our Bas
Mitzvah Club girls and they’ll be able to tell you. It’s a club by
girls, for girls, starring girls and our first two meetings have been
loads of fun.
At our first meeting,
held in the home of club member Shira Cohen we got acquainted with one
another, ate delicious food and learned that within everyone one of us is
a soul yearning to express itself by helping others, performing Mitzvahs,
and doing what’s right.
We each created our very
own personalized beeswax candle to give as a gift or keep for ourselves
and then we celebrated club Member, Mushka Levitansky’s birthday.
At our next meeting we
put words into action and for Chanukah we all went to visit the patients
at S. Monica Convalescent Healthcare Center. The smiling faces on the
residents and BMC member’s faces was a beautiful sight to see. We lit
the menorah, sang songs, and spoke with the people there. Following that,
we went to have our own Chanukah party with Pizza, fries, doughnuts, an
intriguing Chanukah story, a grand dreidel game, and Chanukah gelt
and chocolates for all.
We can’t wait till the
next meeting!!!
